Our Specialisms : IT Security

How safe is your IT system?

IT systems are all-pervasive in business life today.  We all enjoy the efficiency gains from email, spreadsheets, and databases.  But are you properly managing the very real risks that threaten the systems you have come to rely on and take almost for granted?

Losing the use of your IT system, and the data it contains, can be a massive blow from which your company may never recover. A sobering new report shows that these kind of failures are a lot more common than you may think.

The 2006 Security Breaches Report, conducted for the DTI by Price Waterhouse Coopers, showed that 62% of UK businesses suffered an IT security incident within the last 12 months. 29% were hit by accidental systems failure and data corruption, and 52% were hit by premeditated and malicious events.

The DTI’s advice on IT security suggest you “Draw on the right expertise and international standards to understand the security threats you face and your legal responsibilities.”

Our IT Security service makes it easy for you to follow this advice. It’s aimed specifically at small to medium sized businesses, typically those who do not employ specialist IT staff.

Sadly, these companies are often the ones without the experience and knowledge of the appropriate standards to protect themselves properly. Which means they are the ones most at risk. Here’s how we can help you …

Peace of mind from Kantaka:

- We make sure you are protected from malicious software: viruses, Trojans and spy ware.

- We make you internet connection is secure, by auditing the firewall, and your data is secure, by auditing your backups.

- If you use a wireless network we audit it, to make sure no-one outside your company can use it.  When outsiders use your bandwidth it’s an inconvenience.  If they accidentally or deliberately introduce malicious software to your systems, it’s a threat.  If they access illegal content over the internet, and your company is blamed for it, then it’s a potential disaster.

- We make sure you are protected from information theft, which is a serious threat to businesses. Hackers, spammers or even your competitors could be reading your accounts and contact lists.  Unlike other forms of theft, you will not even know that the data has been taken.

- We make sure you have the legal right to use the software on your machines.  Small businesses can unknowingly run illegal software.  Staff may make unlicensed copies, or unscrupulous or incompetent suppliers may install pirated software.  In either case, the business will be blamed, and may face crippling damages or costs.

- We are Microsoft Registered Partners, giving us access to higher-level knowledge, support and expertise.  We also have access to Microsoft products before they are released to the general public.

Take our Free Audit

We offer a free initial audit.  We present a clear, jargon-free report that describes the threats to your business, and how effectively they are being managed.  Where problems are identified, we help you identify the most effective solutions.  Often all that is required is free upgrades to existing software.
